At last the iPhone

I picked it up around 6 p.m. today and I just crashed after more than 30 hours of waiting in the hot June sun. The funny thing was that there appeared to be enough iPhone for everyone. I mean everyone could have gotten one today and they didn’t even need to pay the over-priced fees for spots up front.

iPhone in hand

The Apple staff greeted us with applause as we all wandered into the store. The iPhones were to the back, next to the Genius bar and there were a ton of them in Walnut Creek. I promptly bought one and picked up a carrying case.

My girlfriend picked up up and now I’m just trying to figure out how the thing works.
Here are things I like:

You can take a photo and immediately e-mail it to friends.
You are constantly in contact with e-mail, something I need.
The screen is indeed beautiful and the interface is fun to use.

Here are things I didn’t like:
Getting onto my wireless network was more of a pain than it needed to be. I had to readjust it from the Settings.
The virtual keyboard does take getting used to and trusting the keyboard is a little difficult when you’re say typing in a URL.
There isn’t much in terms of an instruction manual so you just have to remember how the hand in the iPhone commercials showed how things worked.

I’ll be posting more impressions and thoughts on the iPhone as the weekend goes on.
