I don’t know of any drivers going home early, that is definetly untrue. However Susan Bauer the new Dispatcher has taken off countless days since the start of school and she is the one responsible for routing the students. The new Transportation Director Angie is more fit to be a dispatcher than a manger because she knows absolutely zero about management and she has a VERY VERY bad attitude.The drivers aren’t to be blamed they have been doing this job for years, its the people in charge that lack the experience and are miss directing them.

Its about lack of leadership. Children without textbooks two weeks after the start of school — inexcusable. Children not picked up by buses for hours — inexcusable. The Board cuts to zero textbook purchases, the Board cuts the textbook coordinator, and reassigns textbook oversight to the maintainance division. What were they thinking ? There was no existing inventory of textbooks. Schools are scrambling for textbooks. Before the start of school didn’t the Supt have a meeting to verify with all his Asst Supt’s that all systems were GO for the start of school ? Why weren’t these two basic needs of children identified — busing and textbooks. Too much time spent on solar, I guess. Inexcusable

MDUSD needs to explain why legal council is being assigned the job, rather than assigning it to a more appropriate staff member. And why didn’t the current transportation personnel take responsibility for this issue? I’m assuming these buses were in place for previous school years and don’t understand why this year it’s become an issue. I agree that MDUSD should (be using its in house personnel to) identify best practices in other school districts and incorporating them.

Busing still a huge problem after more than a week. some children are waiting more than an hour for buses to show up — not all special ed students are taken care of. Bus drivers are going home early. Transportation dept is not responsive to the calls of principals. The two people in charge of busing, Rolen and McDaniel, are both part of the Gang of Give that got big raises when everyone else was being laid off.

Not only is busing a problem, but so is traffic and the safety of children crossings a huge problem!

How about following the good example set by other school districts? In Walnut Creek School District for example, the special education administrator also is responsible for the special education busing. Doesn’t that seem more efficient?

The district lawyer in charge of transportation ? Are you kidding me ? They just approved $800,000 in outside lawyer fees because the lawyer is too busy. This bussing fiasco is like the Roadrunner cartoon: everyone pointing the finger at another. Who is in charge ? The Supt and Assistant Supt’s don’t even know. How embarrassing. Who is Captain of this ship ?
