I believe the “1.0 = 5 days a week” means it’s a full time position. I hope Oak Grove is able to improve in many ways with the additional oversight, unless the job will simply be crunching numbers. It’s also good to see Pete Pederson involved with the solar project; he has an excellent reputation on school sites for his professionalism, experience, and knowledge.

Is the program manager for Measure C part of Pete Pederson’s $10,000,000 team or is the position in addition to Pederson’s group?

Yes, it would seem that the public should be entitled to that information when the board gets it.
Also, it would be nice if the agenda would always list the site where the administrator will be appointed and the amount the person will be paid.
In addition, the contracts should spell out better how the payments are being calculated.
For example, Carol Snow’s contract states that she’ll make $70,000 to coach and mentor teachers at Oak Grove Middle School, but also states that she’s getting paid $7,000 monthly between July 1 and June 30. It doesn’t say which months she is working.
And under frequency and duration of service, it states: “1.0 = 5 days a week.” Does this mean she’s working one hour or one day, five days a week?
In comparison, Snow was paid $56,000 in 2009-10 and about $52,553 in 2008-09 for similar work at Oak Grove Middle School. How are these pay rates determined?

Interesting the Board pulled the “Personnel Director” — it wouldn’t have made it to the calendar unless they had a recommended candidate. The Board has asked to know who the candidates are prior to the posting of the agenda, and so presumably it is all set to go when posted. So was it an “outside” candidate who wasn’t told about the cut backs in benefits and furlough days until after the offer ? Was it an “inside candidate” and the Board objected to the “musical chairs” ? Or some other reason. I always find it interesting the Board demands to know the names ahead of time but they are withheld from the public until the meeting.
