I don’t think the point is how much it would save. The point is closing it isn’t going to save enough to execute the move! They want to shuffle neighborhood kids over to other areas, and then shuffle special ed kids into Holbrook. This equals cost added, not saved.

This equals a relentless stubbornness and total lack of sound judgement on The Gary’s part and a side of femininity in the three that cower to him that I thought we had overcome decades ago.

Just wait till they start digging into more Measure C funds for More Parking, More Buildings… Just because it’s Measure C doesn’t mean we aren’t paying for it!

Holbrook parents need to get their teachers need to pull the trigger and Charter NOW.

No one has presented this information, since it is something staff would have to determine. The board hasn’t directed staff to answer that question, since it doesn’t appear to be interested in pursuing this option.

Does anyone know how much money is saved by keeping Holbrook open and having it become a K-6?

This is a fantastic idea. It could eliminate one of the four receiving middle schools altogether, and save a treasured grammar school from closure.

Unfortunately the District seems to be stuck on “You’ll close because I said so, that’s why”; and “don’t confuse me with logical solutions–my minds made up”!

This is a wonderful idea but unfortunately the “Trustees” (except Hansen) are not interested in hearing input from anyone but themselves. Tonight Trustee Dennler made a statement (during the agenda item concerning boundary options) about whether or not they were doing what is right for the students and if they had lost sight of that fact. Then Eberhart basically raised his fist through the telephone he was on and made it very clear that this issue(school closures)was decided and everyone needs to just get over with it and move on. He basically bullied the rest of the board into voting for the boundary options. There may not be anything else we can do to save Holbrook at this point but I sure can do something about the board when election time comes along and I will be sure to remind people about how poorly this whole process has gone. King Gary has become a little too comfortable in his chair and it is time for some new blood. Same goes for his little sidekick Whitmarsh.
