@th #4, The fact that parents have not been paid their reimbursements in 30 days is a RED FLAG that cash flow in MDUSD is in serious trouble. With no more available TARP loans available, how long will it be until MDUSD cannot meet payroll ? Will it be Dec or Jan or Feb ?

Interesting presentation by Seneca, which serves "high need" students with behavioral issues by providing a safe, caring atmosphere and working with their parents and the community through "wrap-around" services. They have several openings and MDUSD students get preference. Mildred Browne said some students in residential programs could be placed there, saving the district money.
During public comment, one parent said parents have not been paid their reimbursements for transporting their own children, when buses were not available. Although they are supposed to be reimbursed within 30 days, it is taking much longer.
Many parents were also concerned about whether the CVHS charter would adequately serve special ed students. One parent said the petition on the charter website says the district would provide services the first year, but Mildred Browne said there is a new MOU, which states that the charter would use a charter SELPA.
It is surprising that the district hasn't posted the new MOUs on its website with tonight's agenda.

Actually, the CAC routinely schedules public comment at the end of its meetings. However, when several parents came to discuss busing issues a few months ago, the chairwoman allowed them to speak when the transportation update was originally scheduled. (This was when Jeff McDaniel took his unexpected medial leave and did not deliver the planned report.)

Obviously the district hasn't solved its Spc Ed transportation problems, but they do have an almost $1 Million Dollar cost overun.

I can't help but notice they put the public comment period at the end of the meeting so if you want to comment you have to stick around for probably 2 plus hours to excercise that right.

I'm sure this was done deliberately to minimize public criticisms of the train-wreck that Spc Ed has become in the MDUSD.
