Our Oakland reporter is writing about that city’s “Mayor¹s Education Cabinet,” which is launching a new campaign aimed at keeping kids in school.
Concord Mayor Ron Leone told me he wants to launch a character program similar to the “Do the Right Thing” campaign in Clayton. But, with no vehicle for district-city communications, it’s unclear how much input or buy-in Concord will get from the district.

It appears that FCMAT consultants may be in violation of the FCMAT Conflict of Interest Code by accepting honorariums and failing to disclose the same. The FCMAT code was approved by the FCMAT Board in June 2011, and by the FPPC on March 1, 2012. With the FPPC approval, FCMAT consultants had 30 days to file their financial disclosures. It does not appear FCMAT required that. The public is entitled to see the financial disclosures of any consultant — and that would include those who worked on the MDUSD projects and of course, Kerri Mills. Where are the Financial Disclosures ?

@Anon#96 Since its now “final”, but not posted as promised by FCMAT, Theresa probably could do a PRA request for the official version of the report. I don’t understand why the Times never followed up on its prior PRA requests when Theresa reported the Times would not take “NO” for an answer.

Reliable rumors saying Lawrence is still fighting hard to keep the FCMAT report under wraps. Weird given how it is released already although not on the official FCMAT site.

Wonder if there are “interesting” differences between teh released version and the official version?

@Jim#93 We already know Mills is double dipping with FCMAT consulting — how much influence is she having on the MDUSD report ? Was she paid for it while negotiating with MDUSD ? Lots of conflict of interest questions — some of which the Fair Political Practices commission may be interested in.

Following the charter approval, councilmember Medrano and I approached the District about forming a subcommitte of the District Board and the respective city councils which would meet regularly but informally to discuss issues of mutual concern. However, to me, if the desire was public meetings then that would be welcome as well. My issue is that there is little or no communication, formal or informal, between the cities and MDUSD. It makes no sense. The important thing is opening lines of communication to better help our kids.

@92 — Kerri Mills is still listed in the SBUSD online directory, although it hasn’t been modified since 8/23. While frowned upon in the private sector, double-dipping is not all that unusual in public school districts. As in so many areas, ethical practices in public education tend to be a bit more “flexible”.

Has Kerri Mills resigned from Santa Barbara USD yet ? I just checked the SBUSD agendas through Sept 11 and don’t see her name on the personnel action. In light of no MDUSD Board action on Mildred Browne, I am wondering if something is going on behind the scenes ?
