In the past, the city of Pleasant Hill has held a “showcase” downtown, featuring local school music groups. Although I agree that it seems that parents are the main audience members, opportunities to play in the community (instead of in the school gym) give good exposure to MDUSD bands. Some Concord HS music groups have also performed at Concord’s Music and Market events.
I videotaped the Honor Jazz Band and portions of the DVC Night Band (in which MDUSD band directors and a Northgate student performed) and I will try to upload the clips to my YouTube account later.

As a parent of a former jazz band member from College Park ,I can tell you that most music concerts are rarely attended except by the parents of musicians. It may be because of the facilities(CP jazz band played its concerts in the cafeteria),lack of publicity or lack of school administrative support. Its unfortunate because the public missed some excellent free concerts.
