Before you head to one of the hottest tickets come the night of Sept. 4 – Fito Reinoso at the Thursday Night Live street fest — come meet the artist you might have seen putting up the last of the 15-foot multi-panel mosaics on the Market Square II condos in Old Oakland at 9th and Clay streets. The “meet-and-greet” reception has wine, hors d’oeuvres and the artist — Laurie True. The installation, “Craft, Poetry and Innovation,” adorns the front entrance to Market Square II, 599 Ninth St. True will also display and discuss some of her other mosaic work, and offer some “how-to” tips of tile classes which she and 30 instructors lead at The Institute of Mosaic Art, founded by True in 2005 – a one of a kind institution in Jingletown.
