Hello and goodbye

While writing about another addition (in November) to our dining scene in Friday’s Night Owl column in the Trib I came across news that Mono in Jack London Square closed. I haven’t confirmed but the tel. number listed on the Web site doesn’t work. At first I thought maybe that is where Daniel Patterson and Lauren Kiino (two members of SF restaurant royalty) will open their restaurant Bracina mid-2009. It’s going to be in JLS. But Bracina is supposed to seat 70-80 patrons. I don’t think Mono’s space on 4th Street would fit half that. Anyway, it’s the fastest opening and closing I’ve ever heard of for a concept restaurant like that. Also coming to JLS is a bakery by Meg Ray, co-founder of the patisserie Miette now located in the SF Ferry Building.
