Hey you early birds. Today’s Night Owl was about the unseemly schedule – midnight to 3 a.m. — for street sweeping in the entertainment district downtown along Broadway and Telegraph. “The city has talked about changing the street-sweeping schedule to keep up with the changes downtown, and officials are amenable to shifting the hours, perhaps to 3 to 6 a.m. The next step is to discuss the matter with merchants associations to make sure everyone is on the same page…” Well, here’s the next step: The Oakland Merchants’ Leadership Forum is sponsoring a forum 8 – 10 a.m. Wednesday (March 25) at City Hall with Noel Pinto, Oakland’s Director of Parking Enforcement and others.  The topic: Parking in Oakland’s Commercial Districts. Find out what’s being done, what needs to be done and come with ideas about city parking solutions. Also starring: Alton Jelks, Chair Mayor’s Parking Task Force, and Wladimir Wlassowsky, Division Manager   Transportation Services, Public Works Agency. Location: Oakland City Hall, 1 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza, Hearing Room 1.
