Mai Tai Sunday

As you know, the Mai Tai was proclaimed the official Oakland drink Sunday at the Conga Lounge. We missed it because our Sunday reporter got pulled away on another story. But here is some video of the festivities. Trader Vic would have been proud, I think. Tiki love returns this fall when City Councilmembers are expected to take up a resolution on the critical matter of the Mai Tai.

The Mai Tai— born on the corner of 66th and San Pablo.

Maholo city council member Rebecca Kaplan and Trader Vic’s Restaurants Inc. for supporting this noble cause.
Oakland has so much to be proud of.
Mai Tai Day was a wonderful Tiki celebration.
The campaign continues. We will not rest until the city of Oakland has honored the creator of the Mai Tai,( Vic bergeron ) and formally proclaims the Mai Tai the official cocktail of the city of Oakland.
That should be a very good day indeed for Oakland.
    Mahalo.
