Oakland Tribune Outtakes

Notes from Oakland, Berkeley and in between

Erica Boeke

One for the ladies and my boyfriend

By awoodall

There is one event I will be missing tonight even though it is my boyfriend’s coming out party — coming out as a book author, that is. But if you happen to be in New York for the launch of his and co-author Erica Boeke’s first book GameFace: The Kick-Ass Guide for Women Who Love Pro Sports…
Tuesday, September 2, Pre-Football Season Party, 6 – 8pm The Blue Seats, 157 Ludlow Street, NYC. First time I’ve heard of a sportsbar giving manicures.
For the rest of us, they’ll be elsewhere and in San Francisco this month. But I don’t know about the manicures. Hopefully the tour will include Oakland. So, now I feel better that I one-upped my fellow reporter and Tri-City Beat blogger Matt Artz on knowing the author. We all worked together at The Argus but I’m the only one who dated Chris. OTOH, I don’t know how to play poker and Matt can get a pretty impressive Jew-fro going.
