DiFi digs into U.S. Attorneys’ ouster

Here’s what U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., said on the Senate floor yesterday about the ouster or resignation of U.S. Attorney Kevin Ryan – Northern California’s top federal prosecutor for the last four and a half years – and six other U.S. Attorneys in other districts:

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold an oversight hearing tomorrow, aimed in part at discovering whether the Bush Administration plans to use an obscure section of the reauthorized Patriot Act to replace these prosecutors with “interim” replacements who in fact could serve until President Bush leaves office, without Senate confirmation.
