Want to know why the state’s prisons are so screwed up, and what Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is fixin’ to do about it?
The Governor’s Office will hold a live, interactive video Web discussion at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday on California’s prison crisis and Schwarzenegger’s proposed reforms to reduce overcrowding; members of the public can submit questions in advance at www.gov.ca.gov/ask, and then tune in to the same site tomorrow to view the live forum.
Panelists will include Tom Sawyer, the governor’s public safety liaison; Susan Fisher, the governor’s Crime Victim Advocate; and Kathy Jett, whom the governor recently named to take over the prison system’s “$1 billion failure” substance-abuse treatment programs.
UPDATE @ 2:36 p.m. Tuesday: Listen here to what the governor had to say today after touring the overcrowded California Rehabilitation Center in Norco.
