I am heartened to see that my freshman 11th District Congressman, Jerry McNerney, is being far more visible in his 4 county constituency than his predecessor, Pombo, ever was in 17 yrs. I applaud his citizen advisory committee for health care issues (APRIL 2007), but feel it's a bit lean on hands-on health care providers, ie. floor RNs, clinic nurse practicianers, home care or public health social workers or home aides, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, skilled nursing facility certified aides, MD office medical assistants, dentists, etc.

I do not mean to imply that his appointees are lacking in any way till I get to know them better. But many of the solutions to the problems with health care in the USA don't come from those who just administer facilities, agencies, etc. Do these people ever "see" , ie. touch the flesh of real patients? Do they treat them? Do they deliver direct care? Or are they too far removed from the people paying the bills and receiving the care we need to improve?

The advisory committee is a good start for a new Congressman.
