Senate leader injured in car accident

Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata, D-Oakland, suffered enough injuries in a minor traffic accident to cancel joining his colleagues on a lobbying trek to the nation’s capital this week, an aide said today.
The Senate leader was driving himself to a meeting Friday afternoon and was stopped in Interstate-880 traffic when a car collided with his, said Perata spokeswoman Alicia Trost.
“He is fine,” Trost said. “Just sore.”
A bi-partisan group of senators is visiting Washington, D.C., this week to meet with members of California’s congressional delegation on an array of issues.
