“SiCKO” in Sacto

michael-moore.jpgFilmmaker Michael Moore will testify at noon next Tuesday, June 12, at a Sacramento legislative briefing on his new documentary “SiCKO,” an indictment of the U.S. healthcare system.

The briefing will be sponsored by state Senate Health Committee Chairwoman Sheila Kuehl, D-Santa Monica, the author of SB 840, the single-payer California Universal Healthcare Act. After Moore briefs the bill’s several dozen co-authors — including much of the Bay Area’s Legislative delegation — he’ll take the stage at a 2 p.m. rally with the California Nurses Association and Physicians for a National Health Program on the State Capitol’s West Steps, and then host a special premiere screening of “SiCKO” for RNs, doctors, healthcare activists, and invited guests at 3:30 p.m. in Sacramento’s Crest Theater. “SiCKO” hits U.S. theaters June 29.

Where’s Ron? He ran for Mayor on the issue of single payer. Or did decent healthcare for all and cutting out the excessive gouging and profiting by both doctors and insurance companies take a backseat to “black” healthcare and needs in Oaktown?
