If Mayor Ron Dellums was motivated and more energetic he would be working with Congressman
McNerney as well in learning how more energy jobs could be created in Alameda County as well as San Joaquin Valley, particularly for all the low achieving youth dropouts in Oakland and for ex-felons. Dellums has talked early and often about creating jobs for youth in Oakland like it's a god-given right the Oakland youth receive employment here in Oakland unlike the rest of the working class that travels extensively to wherever the work opportunities are.

First he needs to support the small businesses in Oakland which are under siege by the youth criminals whom the Mayor expects them to employ. And if he truly wants to create more jobs,
then he needs to find out how to seed and get green industries like the solar industry to locate and start jobs in Oakland. Instead, it appears that the Mayor is just re-creating the failed policies of the 70's and 80's where GOVERNMENT PROVIDES ALL instead of inculcating a policy of self reponsibility, self -reliance and independence in Oakland's youth. Ironically, while Dellums supports entrepreneurial training for Oakland youth, Oakland's small businesses fail and the large ones fail to come to Oakland. The Mayor is also pushing for the creation of a huge bloated city government agency to ostenbily "train and provide" Oakland jobs for youth.

Mayor Dellums needs to stop relying on his task forces and an extensive staff, to do all his work and thinking for him, especially when he asked for a huge salary increase but has shown himself
minimaly inclined to do much work, and instead use his own head and put his own energies into a sustained committment for Green energy, i.e., the creation of a solar industry in Oakland and training youth specifically for these jobs rather than using city tax dollars to create interim
temporary and make work positions like the Ambassador program which has now been given over
half a million dollars.
