Tell ‘em how you feel

What a week in Congress: budget battles, another Iraq redeployment vote — lotsa heat and light. And big bills on children’s health care, Medicare and energy are yet to come.

So there should be plenty to talk about as House Education & Labor Committee Chairman George Miller, D-Martinez, and Rep. Pete Stark, D-Fremont, hold town-hall meetings in their respective districts tomorrow.

Miller’s meetings will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers at Benicia City Hall, 250 East L St. in Benicia, and from 11 a.m. to noon in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers union hall, 1875 Arnold Dr. in Martinez. If you can’t make it, CCTV, the Contra Costa Television cable station, intends to film the Martinez meeting and broadcast it at 9 p.m. Monday, July 30; 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31; noon Monday, Aug. 13; and 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15 on Comcast channel 27. Anyone with questions about tomorrow’s meetings can call Miller’s district office at 925-602-1880.

Stark’s meetings will be from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Ruggieri Senior Center, 33997 Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the council chambers at Hayward City Hall, 777 B St. in Hayward; and noon to 1 p.m. in the council chambers at Alameda City Hall, 2263 Santa Clara Ave. in Alameda.

In view of the fact that China is trying to poison our pets and citizens with tainted foods and/or ingredients, I think it is imperative that all food suppliers be required to label all edible products with country of origin info. I, as an American citizen have a right to make the choices I want. Even their toothpaste is risky. Also, global warming is may be caused by depletion of the ozone layer, but the real cause is OVERPOPULATION.
