Democratic presidential candidate and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton will make a fundraising stop Sunday at an evening reception in Orinda with special guest and friend, Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo.
It’s the fourth in a series of back-to-back Clinton Bay Area fundraisers set for Sunday.
What? Isn’t Orinda a Republican stronghold? Not anymore. The Secretary of State’s official report of voter registration shows in September 2004, for the first time, Democrats overtaking Republicans in Orinda. The most recent report shows Democrats with 42 percent compared to Republicans with 37 percent.
The private event will be held at the home of Joni Binder and Robert Shwarts on Moraga Via in Orinda.
Some of the hosts include Steve Filson, a candidate for the state Assembly, and David Bowlby, a former Safeway spokesman who now runs his own consulting firm.
Others on the host committee include Ronnie Caplane, Maria Echaveste, Robin and Rich Edwards, Vernon Goins II, Lorraine Hariton, Judith Droz Keyes, Leslie Darwin O’Brien, Tim O’Brien, Nancy and Chuck Parrish, Leonard Perilla, Reno Rickles and Catherine Zinn.
The price of admission is $2,300 per donor, the maximum allowed under federal campaign contribution rules.
