Hey, what about the state budget?

The Legislature’s seventh annual Republican vs. Democratic softball game is set for Aug. 21 at Raley Field in Sacramento with Assemblyman Guy Houston, R-San Ramon, hoping to lead his team to victory.
Republicans lead Democrats in the Legislative All-Star Game series 5-1. And Houston has won the event’s home run derby the past two years.
Lest we accuse lawmakers of loafing around in Sacramento, this event is a charity fundraiser for the Resource Area for Teaching of Greater Sacramento. It provides educators with low cost teaching materials, a state-of-the-art resource room and professional development classes in hands-on teaching techniques.
Gee, as long as the lawmakers are in town, maybe they could duck into the Capitol after the post-game party and pass a budget?
(If you want to attend, tickets are $10 each. They are available at the Raley Field Ticket Office and Ticketmaster.com.)
