Contra Costa County’s top administrator has ordered a halt to all meetings and activities of the county’s Human Relations Commission, citing a high number of vacancies, questions about how the board spends money, a resignation of a staffer and a discrimination complaint.
Three members of the commission have resigned, according to a letter from County Administrator John Cullen including the vice chair, plus the chairman is on a three-month leave of absence.
A complaint regarding a commission member and a staff member has been filed with the county’s Affirmative Action Officer, according to Cullen’s letter.
And further reports of dissension have been filed with Cullen and members of the Board of Supervisors.
