This week, we zip back to January for a snippet of our governor discussing the need for health care reform during his 2007 State of the State address:
“In the past, health care reform was always dead on arrival. This year I can feel something different in the air. I can feel the energy, the momentum, the desire for action. People really want to get this taken care of… Ladies and gentlemen, we will get it done.”
Schwarzenegger did announce Friday that he was cancelling a trip to Great Britain and postponing a trade mission to India: “While I am confident that we will be able to accomplish quite a bit before the end of the legislative session, I need to maintain the flexibility to call a special session. With only two weeks left, we need to finish the work we have begun on health care, a comprehensive water plan and redistricting reform.”
But with 10 days to go until the end of the Legislative session and the rhetoric still flying hot and heavy from both sides of the aisle, I’m wondering what he’ll be saying about health-care reform in 2008’s State of the State Address.
