Republicans will have a harder time than they think dislodging McNerney. As McNerney has done nothing so far to offend Republicans who voted out Pombo. McNerney did do a nice job getting funding to clean up that mercury leak from Mt Diablo into Marsh Creek that went on for years and years.
Of course things can change quickly in an election cycle and Dean Andal is supposed to be an able politician. But in essence he seems to be nothing more than a smiling version of Bill Baker or Richard Pombo. His record and beliefs are very similar to Baker and Pombo. I am not sure bringing back that old time religion is the answer for the GOP to take back the seat. These feel like very different times.
