Rep. Lynn Woolsey, D-Petaluma, today announced she’ll undergo back surgery at the University of California, San Francisco during the first week of March to treat a disc-related condition in her lumbar spine.
The Congressional Progressive Caucus co-chairwoman’s news release says she has increasingly suffered from back pain for much of the past year, and was unable to return to Washington this week as a result. She will have an abbreviated schedule for two to three after the surgery, and is expected to be fully recovered within six weeks. For now, she plans to return to Washington on Monday.
Hmmm. I’d speculate that the straw that had broken this lawmaker’s back was the heavy lifting she did getting out the vote for Hillary Clinton, but Woolsey’s 6th Congressional District went pretty decisively for Barack Obama.
