Here’s what Nunn had to say and I have also included at the bottom my return email:
As a property owner and Section 8 landlord it’s Federal Glover’s responsibility to make sure bills are paid and if his tenants move out, he should obviously be aware of that and take appropriate action, which he has failed to do over and over, for seven years.
One lien, OK, two, fine, but seven and three are outstanding. Either Federal Glover thinks he doesn’t have to follow the same rules as other Section 8 landlords or he is uninformed and doesn’t care.
It sounds like Federal Glover is blaming his Section 8 tenants, the garbage company or the U.S. Postal service for not paying his bills, and they are his bills, he owns the property.
The fact that Federal Glover was alerted to these unpaid bills as a result of a campaign mailer is actually disturbing, especially considering how important of an issue Section 8 is to East County voters.
When Federal Glover doesn’t pay his garbage bills, taxpayers do in fact pay his garbage bill, it’s the law in Oakland.
I could continue to break it down, point by point, but it seems futile.
It’s confusing you mention the word implication more than a few times, but when one of the many hit pieces sent against me “implies” something, there isn’t the same level of scrutiny. Federal Glover’s campaign funded negative mailer against me over two weeks ago there is no mention of that on your blog.
Federal Glover and the numerous IE’s against me are saying anything and everything to attack me and my family and I haven’t once complained. As election day is only a few days away and I see your title on your blog, it’s very disappointing.
Here’s my response:
Thanks for the response, Erik. I’ll incorporate it into the story and add your full response to my blog.
As for other mailers from Glover that target you not receiving the same scrutiny, it is not my intention to write about every mailer that comes across my desk. This mailer, however, contains substantial misstatements that inspired further scrutiny.
I did, however, blog the other day about the mailer from the East Bay Business Coalition funded by the nurses that targeted you with respect to the issue related to your firing from the county. As you recall, I stood up for you and wrote that you were only 23 years old at the time and ought not to have a youthful mistake held against you for life.
If there are other mailers, I haven’t seen them. I only see mailers if my colleagues who live in the district bring me the mailers or the opposing candidates’ camps or supporters send them over to me. If you have other mailers scanned and could send them over via email, I would be happy to take a look at them.
