Members of the Contra Costa Central Council of MoeOvn.org will participate Wednesday in the organization’s “Day of Action for Energy Independence and an Oil-Free President.”

Folks will gather at 5 p.m. with signs and rally at the corner of Ygnacio and Main in Walnut Creek “to bring awareness to voters of the need for our national energy independence and related security and also to bring attention to the presidential candidate who we believe can take us there … (presumed Democratic nominee and Sen.) Barack Obama,” said local spokesman Tom Mahon.

Mahon points to a recent posting by a Washington, D.C., group called Public Action Campaign Fund which says presumed GOP nominee and Sen. John McCain has lengthy campaign ties to energy companies through contributions and his advisors. See the post here.
