Dem convention: Sex, politics and cocktail parties?

On the surface, all that partying in Denver at the Democratic National Convention looks like one big social whirl.

But beneath the fancy tablecloths, it’s all about raising money. Check out the Sunlight Foundation’s website www.politicalpartytime.org where you can search a database of who is raising money for who, where and when at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week.

One tentative schedule I saw from another source listed 37 pages of events. Hosts range from politicos to lobbyists to corporations to labor unions.

The hands-down winner of the best event title is “Sex, Politics, Cocktails Late Night Dance Party” organized — no kidding, I couldn’t make this up — by Planned Parenthood

Heck, look at it this way: The DNC is boosting the economy, right?
