Does we have room on our Ipod’s for yet another song inspired by the 2008 presidential campaign?
I heard John Rich’s “Raising McCain” for the first — and probably not the last — time at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul last week. Stevie Wonder belted out “Ooooooh, baaaaaaaa, maaaaa” at the Democrat’s convention in Mile High Stadium in Denver the prior week.
Now, we have country music singer Aaron Tippin’s “Drill Here, Drill Now.” Republican delegates in St. Paul chanted repeatedly, “Drill, baby, drill! Drill, baby, drill!” during the convention and it has become a battle cry among Republicans on the campaign trail.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is pushing the song. He wrote in an email this afternoon that “the lyrics masterfully capture the many arguments for drilling now for more American oil, and if you’re anything like me, you’ll immediately want your friends and family to hear it too.”
It’ll only cost you 99 cents to download it. Or you can get the song for free if you buy one of Tippin’s stars and stripes T-shirts for $12.99.
