Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, continues to outpace by 2 to 1 Republican challenger Dean Andal of Stockton in the race for the mother’s milk of politics … also known as money.
McNerney reported in Federal Election Commission reports filed today contributions of $601,851 in the past three months for a total raised for this election of $2.7 million.
Andal, in contrast, raised slightly more than half that figure at $358,783 for a total raised of $1.1 million for his election bid.
The incumbent is drawing far more successfully on political action committees, collecting nearly $1 million from these groups compared with $298,294 for Andal.
Interestingly, Andal has not burned through his money at the same rate. Andal showed $849,727 in cash in the bank as of Sept. 30. McNerney showed $1 million.
