Brandon: I'm still waiting. I still don't understand why, if you like gay people so much, you want so badly to stand in the way of their happiness and well-being?

@JB in CA You shot through Abocelli's point right back into "intolerance" and "ignorance" mode. He's simply pointing out the hypocrisy. We now live in a day where freedom of THOUGHT doesn't seem to exist -- you can't disagree with homosexuality, even if it never translates into any physical action or provocation -- without being labeled a homophobe or hateful or bigoted or intolerant. Where's the openmindedness there?

And I'm not sure where he said anything about religion, but that didn't stop you -- you make some breathtakingly sarcastic and revealing assumptions there. Glad you all live in a world of logic and reasoning.

@Kathy If you were gay and my neighbor, I would invite you over for dinner. Despite the fact that I disagree with your lifestyle, I would always treat you with respect, because you're a human, a friend (hopefully), and a neighbor. I would say Hi, I would mow your lawn when you were out of town, I would talk in the driveway, I would let my kids play with your kids. I would laugh with you, hear your life stories, etc.

But if I knew that because I disagreed with your lifestyle, you felt I was full of rage, raising the next wave of Hitler youth or otherwise brainwashing my children, you would not be invited over. I'd be cordial, but not chummy.

One can disagree without being hostile. I think you've confused the term "hate" with the phrase "disagree with".

Abocelli: I have been waiting for many years for someone to explain to me how passing laws against gay people's rights does not equal hating gay people; and how gay people being allowed to marry has some sort of negative effect on my own marriage.

Abocelli. Straight people are not treated like second class citizens. Gays being allowed to marry makes us EQUAL. We Boycott hotels because they contribute money for legislation to make us INEQUAL, not equal. Nobody has taught children gay marriage is OK in the schools. Don't be ignorant. Poor pitiful subject of the media. Try thinking outside of the media box for once. But like with any Religion you only know how to follow, not lead.

It is funny how people cry 'intolerance' and 'hate' when someone does not agree with their point of view. Some gay marriage supporters steal signs, boycott hotels, teach children in schools that gay marriage is OK without their parents' consent. Aren't they being 'intolerant' as well? Tolerance should go both ways, don't you think?

Jesus loved everybody. Christianity teaches HATE and INTOLERANCE and divides people and communities! Christians claim they love everybody--but OLNY if they are straight, hateful, and intolerant like themselves. How sad to waste a lifetime living that way.

Great piece - In the great tradition of "Its the economy, stupid," if the No on 8 folks can't get the campaign off the "Kids and Education Piece" and regain control of the narrative, they are going to find it hard to win. My guess is that the kids/school thing polls thru the roof.

Some evangelical ministers believe California Christians should vote NO on Proposition 8

Also, shouldn't the Parental Notification initiative be California Christian's top priority?
