It would make Jerry McNerney a very happy man to have the fortune to run against ole Dean Andal again. Andal's appeal is only to the conservative base of the party. The fact that he got whipped in a Republican majority district by over 10 points shows that he GOP needs to find someone who can win and be attractive to a broader base of support. Additionally Andal was surrounded by a lot of the old Bill Baker gang. At one time these folks were a powerful force in Contra Costa County. But they have been washed up for some time now and they do more damage to a candidate than help. Andal was recruited for his fundraising prowess. But the reality was far different. His fundraising was flat horrible. Then the idots at the Republican National Congresssional Committee (RNCC) cut his funding inorder to save incumbents. I remember when the TV news folks were interviewing Andal and asked him about the RNCC leaving him financially high and dry. The look of disappointment on his face said it all. Probably the same look General Paulus had at Stalingrad when he was told there would be no rescue.

To my fellow Republicans lets have a real primary in 2010. Lets not just annoint another old republican hack who wants to be closer to Washington DC than our district. The fact that he had the failed Republican congressional leadership campaigning for him and that his is now potentially lobbying these same loser in DC to help clear the field for him again says it all to me.

I hope someone steps up and runs so the voters of the 10th congressional district are not stuck having to choose between having to vote for Andal or voting McNerny again! This time we need a real contested primay to choose our Republican candidate!
