The situation that California is in shows that large government doesn't work.

There is a never ending need for more and more money to help increase control and regulation of all aspects of individuals' lives.

Just this month, the state agreed to spend $500 MILLION to eliminate 3 dams that produce electricity for 70,000 people near the Klamath valley. These people need the electricity, the company wants to operate the dams, but the government won't let them. And we have to pay a half a BILLION to do it.

There is no end to using "children" and the "environment" as hostages to getting more and more taxes out of people. Where does it end?

California produced $1.7 Trillion in 2005, now it's near $1.4 Trillion. The Federal government is taking $550 BILLION of that this year for taxes, the state government is taking $102 BILLION, and city and counties here will take another $180 BILLION. So that's a total of over $730 BILLION!!! Over HALF of all the wealth produced here will go to the state.

If you ask a government official (or journalist) if they could increase spending at the same rate they did the past decade (by 80%), what would they say?

At this point, it's reached a tipping point. Any increases in state spending will continue to drag overall wealth creation down, so there will be less government revenue. Yet, the people at big government and big news continue to head down this path. The end result is monetarizing of debt and hyper-inflation, and decreased freedom and prosperity for all.

It's sad that the only way to convince big news about this is to watch the US turn into Zimbabwe.

Plutocrats singing while SacraRome burns...what part of CUT, CUT, CUT don't you grok? Spending going up 80%over the past decade while economic growth pales by comparison, leading to the ultimate in unsustainability? Do a 25% across the board cut in spending for all programs -- even the (horror, horror) unionized state employee salary / headcount and state retiree pension / benefit amount -- THAT'LL balance things REAL fast.
