In the interest of keeping up with the fast-moving events of the 10th Congressional District special election, here is a round-up of what caught my attention today. (Sidenote: I’ll post round-ups between now and Sept. 1 as warranted. You can also find the latest list and links to the declared candidates and/or those who have filed for the seat at the bottom of this post.)

A source close to the CD10 campaign scene tells me that Oprah spiritual adviser and prolific New Age author Marianne Williamson is really serious about entering the 10th Congressional District race.
Williamson has made numerous public appearances in the district in the past few weeks and has reportedly hired a Washington, D.C., campaign manager and commissioned pollster David Binder to conduct a survey. She was apparently also an unobtrusive observer in the audience at the June 19 Democratic candidates’ forum in Rossmoor.
Williamson reportedly lives in West Hollywood and that somewhat matches her web site biography, which says she founded Project Angel, a meals-on-wheels program for homebound victims of AIDS in the Los Angeles area. Click here to read the Wikipedia description of Williamson.
She is scheduled to talk about her potential run on Saturday at 1 p.m. at a free public event at the Lafayette Christian church, 584 Glenside Drive in Lafayette.
Hey, Congress could probably benefit from some meditation … not to mention a good spiritual butt-kicking.
On the other hand, I can already hear the late-night comics rubbing their hands together over another, dare we say, unorthodox California candidate?
