By Lisa Vorderbrueggen
Friday, July 10th, 2009 at 5:38 pm in 2009 CD10 special election, Congressional District 10.
In the interest of keeping up with the fast-moving events of the 10th Congressional District special election, here is a round-up of what caught my attention today. (Sidenote: I’ll post round-ups between now and Sept. 1 as warranted. You can also find the latest list and links to the declared candidates and/or those who have filed for the seat at the bottom of this post.)

Republican David Harmer of Dougherty Valley says he has raised $175,000 from more than 360 donors, an impressive showing for a political unknown in a district where Democrats have an 18-point registration lead. The official federal campaign filing deadline is July 15 and we’ll get all the candidates’ fundraising details then.
++++++
Democratic State Sen. Mark DeSaulnier will host a celebration of the opening of his Walnut Creek campaign headquarters on Sunday, 1 p.m., 2014 N. Main St. The campaign is serving free BBQ from Bo’s of Lafayette.
+++++++
Democratic Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan kicked off a month-long “business listening tour” today with stops at Antioch area businesses including Light House Design and D&K Automotive . She will head to Livermore on Sunday and visit Alteration Boutique and Savvy Seconds

For those of us who are Peace and Freedom Party registrants, Mary McIlroy is not the candidate to represent our party. McIlroy is a wingnut pseudo-socialist who is associated with political crackpots like Peter Urban and Tom Condit. Members of Peace and Freedom Party ought to sit out this special election rather than waste their vote on Mary.
