Garry doesn’t know what he’s talking about, if Newsom was the nominee Republicans could use an initiative account (not bound by $24,100 gubernatorial limits) to put Newsom’s pompous “like it or not” on endless loop and kill two birds with one stone.

But I think you asked the wrong question. The question you should have asked is how would having Gavin Newsom as a Democratic nominee impact repealing Proposition 8.

Not that South wants to go there, because Newsom would sink equality once again. Newsom’s negatives are far too high for him to pass anything with him. It would be the same dynamic with 2/3, if Newsom is the nominee it would have a very tough time passing in-spite of him.

Luckily, Newsom isn’t going to be the nominee. And Democrats everywhere have Garry South to thank for that as after a week of “Campaign in Turmoil” stories it doesn’t look like Newsom’s campaign is even viable.

But Newsom has about as much chance of being elected governor as I do of being named emperor of the planet Zbong.

He has fulfilled his Peter Principle Promise as Mayor of Fantasyland by the Bay.
