Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia and and county department directors were interviewed for a piece about budget woes scheduled for tonight’s broadcast of the PBS national news show, NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.

Gioia and county officials gave PBS reporter Spencer Michels a tour around Contra Costa County to “demonstrate the real life impacts of the state’s fiscal crisis,” Gioia’s spokesman said in a prepared release.

The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer is a national news program that broadcasts weeknights on PBS. It will air at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. on KQED Channel 9.

I wonder if the PBS reporter will ask the probing question as to whether the current county situation is the result of a self-inflected wound (think over-generous salary and retirement/health benefits).
