Lord, save us from mail merge blasts

It started over the weekend with a series of email blasts from the National Republican Congressional Committee. Each contained nearly identical subject lines and content; they changed only the names of the targeted Democrats:
McNerney’s Silence Was Due to Fear
Cardoza’s Silence Was Due to Fear
Costa’s Silence Was Due to Fear
A few minutes ago, the Democrats started their fill-in-the-blank assault on Republicans:
Rep. Bilbray Votes Against Health Reform, Ignores His District’s Call for Change
Rep. Campbell Votes Against Health Reform, Ignores His District’s Call for Change
Rep. Bono Mack Votes Against Health Reform, Ignores His District’s Call for Change
And so, on and so on …
Will someone explain to me again why the Internet was a good thing?

Lisa, I can only explain why the Internet is a bad thing!
1. It’s put or is threatening to put many print newspapers out of business.
2. It’s caused hundreds of thousands of layoffs of postal workers, and threatened the loss of Saturday Delivery.
3. Cyber-crime and ID theft have replaced bank robbery, because of on-line banking and bill-pay.
4. TV and the internet have combined to make stock market manipulation legally possible for government.
5. Etc., etc., etc.

Oh, I forgot putting innocent kids at risk from texting and transmission of pictures.
