If the CDP can’t get the party faithful out to defeat their gerrymandering death knell (Prop 14 – the open –aka “let moderates have a chance” — primary initiative) — then they can’t get the vote out to save someone who has never won an election on his own merits.

Pombo’s own party faithful sat on their hands with the help of massive GOP vote supression (aka demonize Pombo) in the Bush off-year rout of 2006 which is why the vote totals for that McNerney “victory” were so skewed relative to other contests in that area…

The following election, “ol’ Jerr” rode to victory over Andal on the Obama surfboard…hardly a referendum on his own record.

None of the above “get out of jail free cards” will be available to him this time as he runs ON HIS OWN RECORD FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME…

You think? Harmer does seem headed for victory tonight, but remember how low the Democratic turnout today must be, with no top of the ticket (gubernatorial, senatorial) contests to draw those voters to the polls. I wouldn’t use tonight’s total Democratic vote in CD11 as a marker of McNerney’s support come November.

In the November general, it’s gonna be:

1) David Harmer
2) Jerry McNerney

Just look at the total turnout in this primary between the two major parties…
