Yes, it’s all relative. I’m 64. So, by your measure, I reckon I’d qualify as a Young Gun too. It was just a joke. I thought I made it bipartisan by mentioning Di-Fi. That said, anybody (Dem or Repub) who ran for Congress 14 years ago in Utah, ran last year in CA-10 and this year in CA-11 is not exactly fresh talent. Chronological age aside, he’s no more a “Young Gun” than John Garamendi or Jerry Brown. See, I’m being bipartisan again! Now, even though I’m a Democrat, I consider somebody like Paul Ryan-WI to be a true young gun — not just in terms of age, but also because he is the GOP’s idea man in the House, actually offering some concrete proposals that deserve serious consideration.

“Jerry McN. is a tough incumbent.” I’ve seen him described as vulnerable, which I believe comes closer to it in this year of the angry electorate.

John W. What have you been eating? Sour grapes? So what if he’s 40 whatever. He’s got a young family, and from my vantage point (76) 40 whatever is a young gun. David is spectacularly intelligent and comes across well in any situation. He is fiscally conservative, and I want someone who has some experience in life and finance representing me in Congress.

Jerry is the biggest coward I have seen in a long time. His puppet strings to nancy are not very well hidden from sight. His latest mailer indicates that he is an Independent. He lacks the cajones to even stand with his party. bye bye Jerry

Yes, only in the culture of D.C., where 85 is the new 40, can middle-aged guys be called “Young Guns.” If he wants to be viewed that way, at least he should get some bo-tox and hair coloring, like Diane Feinstein. Tom above says 47. I couldn’t find his age in either his official bio or Wikipedia. In fact, not even a birthplace was listed. Hmmm! Has anbody seen HIS birth certificate?

He does have lots of experience though. How many people can say they’ve run for Congress in three different House districts in two different states (2 in CA during the past year or so and 1 in Utah long time ago).
