Yes, defense attorneys are vital to our system of justice. That’s why maybe O’Malley should remain one (assuming he’s good at it). Besides, it balances out the family: 1 prosecutor, 1 judge and 1 defense attorney. They could be their own TV show — Law & Order: East Bay.

Who knew?

We should probably do away with them.

Think of all the money that could be saved by eliminating all criminal trials.

We should probably do away with the judges too, particularly the ones who were once defense attorneys.

Elle has endorsed Mark, she did that almost immediately after the primary. O’Malley can get as many endorsements as he wants, nothing changes the fact he is a defense attorney who tries to keep criminals out of jail. He is the “managing law partner” at a firm with three lawyers. Give me a break. The guy left and went to the dark side. Good luck coming back.

Anyone who wants a peek at this guy’s ethics, head on over to east bay express for a glimpse into how O’Malley engages in backroom deals. He just cannot be trusted.

Mark has been the true professional crime fighter as a prosecutor for 25 years.

Rick K, I have to stand up for DU’s Sturm School of Law (Peterson’s alma mater). It’s not Harvard, but it is a highly rated law school established 1892 and fully accredited nationally. DU is a first-rate private university, established 1864 by the same man who founded top-notch Northwestern University. Condoleeza Rice earned her doctorate degree at DU and became Stanford Provost.

I’m a Dem but leaning Peterson. Like his pugnacity, which I’ve personally observed in a murder trial. Also like his city council experience. All the bi-partisan establishment endorsements for O’Malley make me wonder whether that support is based on family and country club politics or based on merit. His dad was Contra Costa DA. His sister is Alameda DA. And his wife is chief judge of Contra Costa superior court. Seems like enough O’Malley influence for now. I’m inclined to go with Peterson. Can always vote him out in 4 years if it doesn’t work out.

I agree with John W. I really don’t care that a bunch of partisan elected officials have taken sides. May the “less evil” man win. Neither of these buffoons deserves the job. One went to law school at the University of Denver (never heard of it) and the other to John F. Kennedy University (a “basement tier” institution which isn’t even accredited by the American Bar Association). With morons like these clowns at the helm, it’s no wonder that our county, state and country are going to Hades. In a county with 1 million population, surely there is a potential D.A. out there who would be more competent than either of these incompetent hacks. Does anyone know if Elle Falahat, the third person on the ballot for Contra Costa D.A. in June, has endorsed either of them and, if so, why?
