I’ve never been a member of the Green Party. I’m also an Election Official on November 2. That being said, it seems not in the interests of the major party candidates to continue to let this happen to Laura Wells.

SWe should all be outraged that we are only permitted to hear from 1/3 of the candidates running for governor. Big Brother seems to think that we must be spared the choices of the other 2/3 that are on the ballot and in the race. Somewhere in the depths of hell Stalin smiles.

RR, Uninvited Columnist (#1): Whether you agree with the Green Party candidate or not, the two party only debate is a fraud and is fooling the majority. There are six ballot qualified gubernatorial candidates, yet Californians are only allowed to hear about two of them. To me, that’s a scam!

All qualified candidates have been invited to a debate on October 28th in Sacramento. So far, all the candidates have confirmed their attendance, except Brown and Whitman.

Anybody but Brown (the ultimate “re-tread” candidate) and Whitman. I’d like to know more about the third-party candidates for governor, including Laura Wells — a real progressive (not a chameleon). I think that they’ll do surprisingly well. The next governor likely will be elected with less than a majority (under 50% of the total vote). In 2002, the third-party candidates won more than 10% of the vote. Green Peter Camejo won 5.3% and the Libertarian candidate won 2.2%, holding Gray Davis down to 47.3% in 2002. It wouldn’t surprise me if third-party gubernatorial candidates collectively top 10% again in 2010.

Who gives a flyin’ cowpat what L. Wells says? Let her write Op-Ed columns or letters to the newspapers. The Green party in this state is a pity party for out-of-date Lefties who never got over socialism’s demise.
