Lucinda Williams to headline Boxer fundraiser

Hot from her fundraiser today with Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer is bringing to bear some star power of a different sort at another campaign cash event Saturday in Pleasanton.

lucinda williamsGrammy-winning singer and songwriter Lucinda Williams will headline the event at a private residence, and Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin, D-Ill., will be the special guest. Among those hosting the late-afternoon gathering are state Sen. Ellen Corbett, D-San Leandro; Assemblywoman Joan Buchanan, D-Alamo; Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti; Pleasanton Mayor Jennifer Hosterman; and Pleasanton City Councilmember Cheryl Cook-Kallio. Tickets cost $75 for individuals, $500 for sponsors, $1,000 for patrons and $2,400 for hosts.

Without making any comment on the candidates or their platforms, I’ll say that having had Aimee Mann at her fundraiser a few months ago in Atherton, and with Lucinda Williams now, Boxer has done better musical booking this year than half the concert promoters in the Bay Area.
