Re: #3

This is all true. However, Republicans (and some Dems) were all over Obama's case for not doing anything. Then, when he does something, Speaker Bohner says Obama should have consulted Congressional leadership first. Problem is, Obama did just that. I'll give Obama lots of credit for getting international backing and not making this yet another U.S. led attack on Muslim territory. I have my apprehensions but hope it works out.

Yeah, Barry kind of forgot about the Constitution and the Congress. Not that most Presidents don't, but he really beat on George jr. about going into combat without first getting the big "hi-ho" from Congress.

As usual, our BB is a crowd-pleaser. She is wrong on both topics. Congress needs to be consulted, true, but it's been a long, long time since Congress has given prior assent to military action in an undeclared war.
As for the Japanese disaster, to date radiation exposure has been minimal given the state of the damaged plants. There is no foolproof technology to assure nuclear plants can withstand a 9.0 earthquake followed by a huge tsunami. TEPCO delayed disabling its reactors fearing they would have to be completely rebuilt at tremendous cost. (TEPCO wound up pumping seawater anyway) It is absurd to believe any industrial plant can be made 100% safe in all contingencies. Undoubtedly, we will learn much from the Fukushima incident.
