Marky Mark will hold his finger to the wind and see which way the union boss blows. To these California dems the "middle class" is code for union workers. The 3 new committees will work over time to create a more unfriendly business enviornment that favors union workers. The "under ground economy" is code for non-union employers. This guy is nothing more than a stooge who takes his orders from an un-named anti-capitilist, that wears a tweed jacket, with a hair helmet, sporting a 70's porn stache.

To Rich W.
Go sell George Miller's propoganda somewhere else.

Governor Brown is making huge cuts to higher education, the budgets at UC, CSU, and at our community colleges are being decimated. Tuition is going through the roof, classes are being eliminated, and the door is slamming shut for those who want to enroll, 10,000 slots cut at CSU alone last semester. Historicly these colleges have allowed low income people - many from tough back rounds - to move into the middle class. Community colleges, in particular, have been absolutely vital in moving people into the middle class, and keeping them middle class (you've got update skills all the time). Our local Congressman, George Miller, has been a great friend of higher ed. In Congress he helped expand Pell Grants, lowered interest rates on student loans, he has worked to make college more affordable, thus strengthening the middle class. But Jerry Brown is undoing all this hard work by Miller, he is doing everything he can possibly do to limit access and to make college more expensive. I'd like to see State Senator DeSaulnier - in his capacity as new Select Chairman of a Committee on the middle class - make an effort to reverse these moves being made by Jerry Brown
at the state level. UC, CSU, and our community colleges are the most successful and important state programs we have, they are vital to the economy, and they play a key role in creating our middle class, so we need to keep them thriving. Senator DeSaulnier, please be a champion of higher education.
