I was there; most of these are exact quotes. The president had the crowd fired up. You should note that, compared to ending tax cuts for the wealthy, even more of the crowd went to their feet when he mentioned cutting defense spending along with other spending. I would only add that anyone who’s never heard Oakland’s own R&B singer Goapele missed a truly exceptional, wonderful performance by her before the president spoke.
