Seems to me like the one we have to be worried about breaking laws and or ethical/moral short comings would be Schwarzenegger. WHAT happened to allowing someone who has paid their debt to society, starting with a clean slate. What is the point in sentences to fit the crime if once a person has been imprisoned, they will always be eliminated from possible success of becoming a tax-paying, contributing member of society. Because we've become accustomed to living in fear of just about any kind of "bogey man" one can imagine, we are a society which elects politicians who would constantly eliminate hope or upward mobility for those who need the most help.

Also, it's not just inmates they're negating by refusing to support them in their release, it's their families, their kids, their wives, and their fathers and mothers. We like to believe that we are a nation where anyone can succeed. But most people don't want that possibility to be available to a released inmate. Guess what, they're humans too. Maybe some of them won't be successful in their reintegration. One inmate returning to prison is not the measure of the majority of them. But, in our society of fear, that's what we want to believe. Let's get some media coverage on the successfully reintegrated released inmates. Let's CELEBRATE the possibility of recovery, reintegration, united families. Everyone assumes the worst. That kind of belief doesn't lift anyone up. It only brings us all down.
