Stark is pretty old now, I also heard his health isn’t too good either. It would, I think, be a good time for him to step and let a younger person take the job. Sometimes a talented, successful person can hang on to a job too long. We saw this with Al Davis of the Oakland Raiders, he was highly regarded at one time, but now is considered a liability to orginization due to his advanced age. Sometime people become difficult, and agumentative when they get into thier 80′s, even though thier mental faculities are on wane they continue to insist they are at top of thier game.

Pete Stark’s son Jeff Stark is a co-worker of Councilman Swalwell. They are both Alameda County deputy district attorneys. Wonder if Daddy’s connections with the District Attorney is what got son Jeff Stark the job? The number of “famous political names” in that office is hardly coincidental (children of Stark, Panetta, Alioto, children fellow district attorneys – which explains Nancy O’Malley’s hiring, associates of donors to the D.A.’s pet causes, etc.). Nepotism and cronyism galore. The younger Stark has a reputation as a “do nothing” in that office. He oversees — get this — prosecution of political wrongdoing, yet fails to prosecute political wrongdoing! Pete Stark is a prime example of the entrenched “political class,” America’s equivalent to royalty. Benefits are showered upon the “political class” and their progeny. Pete Stark was known as an aloof fool when he represented the Tri-Valley back in the ’80s. The voters of Stark’s district at long last will have a real choice, instead of a Soviet-style re-coronation of the incumbent every two years. Councilman Swalwell would most wisely use the new “top two” election law to his benefit and appeal to independent voters. Republicans and independents would most wisely unite behind him and make it a Swalwell-Stark battle in November 2012. Thanks Councilman Swalwell for your courage to take on “the political class”!

Whoops, my bad — there I go being insane again (even when it’s not a weekend — the horror, the horror!) after so much insightful and cogent political insight — what was it he (the little fascist, he) said about me?

“Your insanity flows from every single post” — apparently even the ones I posted above that he feigned to not comment on.

Again, I repeat: Hellwoody is a fascist — and his tactics of repeatedly and predicably trying to “discredit the messenger” instead of strapping on a pair and taking on the message merely prove that point — that’s what fascists do.

Hmmm, just who could the CA GOP rally behind for this challenge against "Stark raving Pete" in a newly more moderate district? How about someone who has run for Congress at least three times, knows how to raise a LOT of money, came thisclose to beating an incumbent member of Congress not so long ago, lives in the district and has a fair amount of name recognition? Imagine both Abram Wilson and Guy Houston (assuming he still lives in the 15th District) must be seriously considering the race.

Also, doesn’t Swalwell’s entry into the race complicate Ellen Corbett’s decision to sit out until her senate term expires in 2014? My money’s on her running now — worst case scenario, she narrowly loses to Stark or Swalwell and keeps her senate seat.
