Mr. Stark won’t be getting my vote. I won’t vote for a Republican opponent, but I’ll abstain rather than vote for Stark if he is the only one running.

The part about Joan Buchanan makes sense. As far as I’m concerned, she can replace Torlakson yesterday.

Pretty sure Joan Buchanan would rather tee herself up to replace Tom Torlakson as Superintendent of Public Instruction in 2018 . . . that means state senate in 2014, not Congress.

That said, between the mayor of Pleasanton and Ellen Corbett assuming Pete Stark will hang up his spurs in 2014, looking more and more like Eric Swalwell could take this thing.

I don’t understand why Stark would want to stay one more term, Republicans control the house, now is time to get out. As a minority party member Stark has minimal influence, his only option is to wait for voters to kick out these creep Republicans, but that doesn’t seem likely this next election cycle. This lady looks like a great candidate, she’d really work as candidate. Stark just doesn’t want to leave, that’s my read. Stark has done good job – he’s pro labor, a solid bay area Democrat , but now is the time to get out and pass baton to younger generation.

Look for Joan Buchanan to move a few miles south into the new 15th CD, right after her third and final Assembly election in November of 2012, so that she can join the foodfight shaping up among the East Bay lady’s club (Corbett, Hosterman, Hayashi) as the heir apparent to “Stark raving Pete” in Congress.

This is the real reason Swalwell is running now — he sees the female tsunami coming at that seat in 2014 and wants to “jump the shark” before he gets swept out to sea…
