Typical of “Live Shot” Garamendi. Preen to cover grey spots on your head, posture in front of a TV camera, bloviate for a few minutes, and call it a day. Plan your next photo opportunity. Ignore your constituents and their real-world problems and leave your inept staff of young political hacks recycled from your failed governor campaign(s) to “handle” them by referring them to the “circular file.” If you live in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, “Live Shot Garamendi” has already written you off because you’ll never be able to vote for him again. This career politician/pretend cowboy knows nothing about the private sector and true job creation. Even Gavin Newsom says that Garamendi (who brags that he chaired the “Commission on Economic Development” as Lt. Governor) was a do-nothing on economic development planning as Lt. Governor. Tell us more about your well-paid, do-nothing job for the mysterious Democratic megadonor/sugar daddy Ron Burkle. In November 2012, the people of Solano and Yolo counties and points north will teach “Live Shot Garamendi” a lesson and retire him to his mansion in Walnut Grove where he can ponder his “my front bedroom in one district/my backyard is in another” carpetbagger paradox all day. Hello, Congresswoman Vann. Bye, bye, Live Shot Johnny!

I respectfully disagree with the learned Ms Woolsey’s “Smart Security” plan. “Diplomacy” has its limitations: Syria’s atrocious crackdown on dissidents failed to draw the official disapproval of Russia and China in the UN Security Council, President Obama’s overtures to Iran has drawn only scorn from Teheran. Multilateral cooperation: The US Treasury can’t coordinate policy with the EU over debt. How much harder would it be to coordinate life-and-death issues of security in Afghanistan? The once mighty Royal Navy is weighing plans to jointly operate aircraft carriers with France because the UK can’t afford to build new ones on its own. Peaceful conflict resolution? Where? Maybe Quebec? Not Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, Kurdish regions, central Africa, Tibet, and so on. Even Northern Ireland, which has no significant infrastructure problems,and the level of poverty Afghans would be grateful to achieve, took many years and a lot of bloodshed to settle into an “acceptable” range of communal tension. That said, I strongly suggest Ms Woolsey be appointed ambassador to Monaco.
